DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Lunch Cancer Re
search Program (LCRP) for 2019. The Investigator-Initiated Translational R
esearch Award supports translational research that will develop promising
ideas in lung cancer into clinical applications.\n \nObservations that dr
ive a research idea may originate from a laboratory discovery\, population
-based studies\, or a clinician’s firsthand knowledge of patient care. T
he ultimate goal of translational research is to move a concept or observa
tion forward into clinical application.\n \nThis mechanism is intended to
fund a broad range of translational studies\, including\, but not limited
  to\, the following:\n\n	Studies advancing/translating in vitro and/or ani
mal studies to applications with human samples/cohorts.\n	Late-stage precl
inical work leading to/preparing for a clinical trial\, e.g.\, Investigati
onal New Drug (IND) application submission.\n	Correlative studies that are
associated with an open/ongoing or completed clinical trial and projects
that develop endpoints for clinical trials.\n\n \nThe LCRP seeks to suppo
rt research that is relevant to the healthcare needs of military Service m
embers\, Veterans\, and their families. Military relevance will be conside
red in determining relevance to the mission of the FY19 LCRP during progra
 mmatic review.\n \nFunding: Maximum USD $ 400’000\n \nDuration: 2 year
s\n \nEligibility: Applicants from international organizations or institu
tions are eligible to apply\, and there are no citizenship restrictions. I
nvestigators at the level of Assistant Professor or above are eligible to
submit applications.\n \nHow to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted thr
ough the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact information\, a list
of collaborators and key personnel\, a proposal narrative\, and supporting
documents as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by invitation)
will be made via a Grants.gov workspace. Full application packages can be
  downloaded from Grants.gov at any time.\n \nPre-Application Deadline: 15
