DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Lunch Cancer Re
 search Program (LCRP) for 2019. The Idea Development Award promotes new id
 eas that are still in the early stages of development and have the potenti
 al to yield impactful data and new avenues of investigation. This award su
 pports conceptually innovative\, high-risk/high-reward research that could
  lead to critical discoveries or major advancements that will accelerate p
 rogress toward eradicating deaths and suffering from lung cancer. Applicat
 ions should include a well- formulated\, testable hypothesis based on stro
 ng scientific rationale. Submissions from and partnerships with investigat
 ors at Department of Defense (DoD) military treatment facilities and labor
 atories\, and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers and rese
 arch laboratories are strongly encouraged.\n \nPreliminary data to suppor
 t the feasibility of the research hypotheses and research approaches are r
 equired\; however\, these data do not necessarily need to be derived from 
 studies of lung cancer.\n \nThe LCRP seeks to support research that is re
 levant to the healthcare needs of military Service members\, Veterans\, an
 d their families. Military relevance will be considered in determining rel
 evance to the mission of the FY19 LCRP during programmatic review.\n \nFu
 nding: Maximum USD $ 350’000\n \nDuration: 2 years\n \nEligibility: Ap
 plicants from international organizations or institutions are eligible to 
 apply\, and there are no citizenship restrictions. A PI must be apply as e
 ither a New Investigator or an Established Investigator. An Established In
 vestigator must be an independent investigator at or above the level of As
 sistant Professor. A New Investigator must be an investigator at or above 
 the level of Assistant Professor and be within 10 years of his/her first f
 aculty appointment (or equivalent) by the time of the application submissi
 on deadline.\n \nHow to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the
  eBRAP platform. They should contain contact information\, a list of colla
 borators and key personnel\, a proposal narrative\, and supporting documen
 ts as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by invitation) will be
