DESCRIPTION:The SNSF launches the fourth “Investigator initiated clinica
 l trials (IICT)” call. This programme supports independent clinical stud
 ies. The call is limited to prospective\, randomised\, controlled\, interv
 entional\, multicentric studies of new or existing treatments on subjects 
 that are not in the industry focus and therefore insufficiently researched
 . The studies are of high clinical relevance and public importance.\n \nN
 o funding will be awarded for: in particular\, pilot studies\, proof of co
 ncept studies\, translational studies\, observation studies\, studies invo
 lving healthy subjects\, and physiological or pathophysiological studies o
 f patients. Also excluded are phase I and phase IIa pharmaceutical studies
  as well as combined studies with a phase I - or phase IIa - component. Fu
 nding for such studies can be applied for under the project funding scheme
 . In addition\, technology development for new treatments and the developm
 ent and evaluation of new diagnostic or risk-stratified procedures without
  a therapy component will not be funded. Studies conducted for directly co
 mmercial purposes are also excluded.\n \nWho can apply: \n\n	Consortium: 
 max. 5 applicants with an excellent scientific track record over several y
 ears and the ability to lead a clinical study involving various experts an
 d institutions in a multicentric setting.\n	Applicants: PhD obtained at le
 ast 4 years prior to the application deadline or 3 years of research work.
  This restriction does not apply to independent researchers who can apply 
 as soon as they get the said position. Applicants must be established rese
 archers: all applicants must be in a position to carry out research projec
 ts under their own responsibility and to lead project staff. Applicants mu
 st comply with art.10-12 of SNSF Funding Regulations and be employed at a 
 Swiss academic institutions for the duration of the project.\n\n \nDeadli
