DESCRIPTION:Patricia Figueiredo\, Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR)

Recurrent states of dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) have been\nident
ified in BOLD-fMRI data\, but their electrophysiological\nunderpinnings re
main a matter of debate. In this talk\, I will present\nour recent finding
s regarding the investigation of potential EEG\ncorrelates of fMRI-derived
dFC states\, based on simultaneous EEG-fMRI\nrecordings from a group of h
ealthy volunteers and a group of epilepsy\npatients. We employ a dictionar
y learning approach to identify a limited\nnumber of dFC states on the BOL
D-fMRI data and\, for each dFC state\noccurrence\, we extract candidate EE
G features based on spectral power\nand microstates. By training a classif
ier of dFC states using these EEG\nfeatures\, we find that the three EEG m
icrostates with the greatest\nglobal explained variance are the most predi
ctive of the simultaneous\nfMRI dFC states.
