DESCRIPTION:The State Secretariat for Education\, Research and Innovation 
 (SERI) has commissioned ETHZ as Leading House for bilateral research colla
 boration with the China Scholarship Council (CSC) in all scientific discip
 lines.\n \nETHZ and CSC run the China – Exchange of Young Researchers P
 rogramme for applicants based in Switzerland and China who\, after an init
 ial contact set up at a symposium\, workshop or alike\, want to start rese
 arch activities with their counterparts by:\n1.       Hosting young 
 Chinese scholars in Switzerland for 6-24 months. \n2.        Sendin
 g young researchers to China to China for max. 12 months.\nThe total budge
 t for the 2019 call is CHF 285’000.\n \nWho can apply: the Swiss Main A
 pplicant must be a senior researcher holding a permanent position in an el
 igible Swiss institution. Note: The Chinese and Swiss partners must have s
 et up initial contacts during a symposium\, workshop\, for a publication\,
  the submission of a joint research proposal or alike.\n \nThe programme 
 has the following formats:\n \n1. Hosting young Chinese researchers in a 
 Swiss research group:\n·         The young scholar: PhD student o
 r post-doctoral researcher registered/employed at an eligible Chinese inst
 itution throughout their stay in Switzerland. \n·         Fundin
 g: monthly allowance: CHF 4’400 per month for PhD students or CHF 4500 p
 er month for postdoctoral researchers + max. CHF 250 for social charges if
  the Chinese visitor receives employee status at the Swiss institute.\n·
          Deadline: 12 April 2019\n·         Applications 
 must be submitted in parallel by the Swiss Main Applicant to ETHZ (as per 
 p.3 of the call document) and by the Chinese applicant CSC (https://www.cs
 c.edu.cn/chuguo/s/1532 and https://bg.csc.edu.cn/DownLoad.aspx?PROJECTCODE
 =620057).\n·         Please contact the Director of your Institut
 e to obtain a Letter of Support.\n \n2. Sending young Swiss researchers t
 o China:\n·         The young scholar: PhD student or post-doctor
 al researcher registered/employed at an eligible Swiss institution through
 out their stay in China. \n·         Funding: monthly allowance:
  CHF 2’000 per month for PhD students and post-doctoral researchers alik
 e. Roundtrip economy ticket: max. CHF 2’000. Stays will have to be part 
 of a research project or collaboration.\n·         Deadline: 10 M
 ay 2019\n·         Applications must only be submitted to ETHZ. N
