DESCRIPTION:\nWhy take a Data Science/AI bootcamp ?\n\nThe fastest growing
and most innovative companies around the world are rapidly developing new
capabilities in Data Science. McKinsey projects that AI will deliver an a
dditional $13 trillion of GDP to the global economy by 2030. It therefore
is not surprising that many business schools now view Data Science as a cr
itical job for the 21st century.\nThis course targets managers and profess
ionals who need a fast -- and comprehensive -- overview of Data Science an
d Artificial Intelligence. Most participants are not professional programm
ers\, but rather professionals who know their business and are looking to
gain a foundation of new skills so that they can collaborate with technica
l teams and make better-informed decisions on potential data science and A
I projects.\nIn this course\, you will:\n\n	Learn the foundational concept
s and methods of data science .\n	Learn how to apply data analysis algorit
hms to real-world data sets (i.e.\, see how it is done with some real prog
ramming).\n	See how AI is changing data-driven business models and strateg
ic planning.\n\n \nWhy has Data Science become so critical ?\n\nMassive a
mounts of data are being generated (or have the potential to be generated)
in all areas of business\, science\, and government. With the right skill
s and insights\, such data can greatly improve efficiency in fields such a
 s manufacturing\, logistics\, supply-chain\, engineering\, finance\, telec
 ommunications\, transportation\, healthcare\, and urban planning -- to nam
e just a few. Data science and digital transformation can also reinvent ex
isting products and services to differentiate firms from the competition.\
nTo develop an effective data strategy\, managers need a high-level unders
tanding of how Data Science methods work\, why they work\, and when they o
ften do not work. First-hand experience with Data Science methods can help
managers make better decisions and work better with technical members of
data science teams.\n \nClick here to register\n\nThe course is limited t
 o 20 to 30 participants - so register today!\nRegistration deadline is May
6\, 2019.\n\nA certificate of attendance will be awarded by the UNIL-EPFL
Formation Continue at the end of the course.\n \nRegistration Fee\n4'200
CHF\nper participant.\n800 CHF\ndiscount for registrations made before Ma
y 1\, 2019\n500 CHF\ndiscount for multiple participants from the same comp
 any\n420 CHF\ndiscount for contributing members of EPFL\n\nAlumni\n\nFee i
 ncludes all textbooks\, course materials\, five lunches\, snacks\, and\nre
freshments. The EPFL Alumni discount cannot be combined with another\ndisc
ount. Please contact us for a custom quote if sending more than five\npart
icipants from the same company. Please contact us if you need to coordinat
 e invoicing for multiple\nregistrations from the same company.\n \nRequir
ements\nNo prior training in Data Science is required to take the course.
However\, all examples\, demonstrations and exercises will be in Python\,
so it is a good idea to familiarize yourself with Python before the start
of class. We recommend that you complete the 4-hour Python tutorial by Dat
aCamp and skim the online documentation for Python. We will review the mos
t important aspects of Python at the beginning of the first practical\, an
d TAs will be available throughout the course to help you with specific co
ding questions.\nIn addition to having some familiarity with Python\, part
icipants should also:\n\n	Be familiar with the basics of linear algebra (a
lthough there will be very little actual math in the course)\n	Be familiar
with introductory statistics (although we will review basic statistical m
ethods at the start of the course)\n	Be conversant in English (the course
will be given in English)\n	Bring a laptop computer (Mac\, Windows\, or Ch
romebook area all fine) \n	 \n	More Information…\n
