DESCRIPTION:Aim: The Simons Foundation invites applications for postdoctor
 al fellowships to support research on fundamental problems in marine micro
 bial ecology. The foundation is particularly interested in applicants with
  training in different fields who want to apply their experience to unders
 tanding the role of microorganisms in shaping ocean processes\, and vice v
 ersa\, as well as applicants with experience in modeling or theory develop
 ment. While these cross-disciplinary applicants will receive particular at
 tention\, applicants already involved in ocean research are also encourage
 d to apply. The foundation anticipates awarding five fellowships in 2019.\
 n \nDuration: 3 years\n \nFunding: USD $87\,000/year  ($62K stipend\, $
 25K allowance)\n \nEligibility: Applicants should have received their Ph.
 D. or equivalent degree within three years of the fellowship’s start dat
 e. Preference will be for applicants with no more than one year of postdoc
 toral experience. Applicants may be citizens of any country. Awards can on
 ly be issued to nonprofit research universities or research institutions i
