DESCRIPTION:Velux Stiftung was founded in 1980 by Villum Kann Rasmussen\, 
 a Danish engineer. He developed a novel window construction that could be 
 installed in sloping roofs\, which he named “VELUX” (“Ve” for vent
 ilation\, and “Lux” for light).\n \nThe Velux Stiftung supports basic
  and applied research in the fields of daylight\, healthy ageing and ophth
 almology which:\n\n	is relevant beyond the borders of a single discipline\
 ,\n	can accelerate research by removing bottlenecks\,\n	enables implementa
 tion of research and\n	whose results will be promoted and/or implemented i
 nside and outside academia.\n\nProjects outside these fields\, but under m
 edicine and biology\, may be considered in exceptional cases.\nThe foundat
 ion welcomes international and interdisciplinary collaborations.\n \nWho 
 can apply\n\n\n	Both individual researchers and research groups.\n	The mai
 n applicant (e.g. professor\, group leader) must be a permanent employee o
 f a university or other permanent research entity anywhere in the world.\n
 	Non-permanent employees are welcome to apply as co-applicants.\n\n \nDur
 ation: 1-4 years\n\nFunding: approx. CHF 50-100’000 per year covering\n\
 n\n	Research staff costs (personnel costs\, teaching replacement).\n	Assoc
 iated research costs (e.g. consumables\, conference\, travel\, publication
 ).\n	Equipment costs may be included if duly justified.\n	Does NOT cover o
 verheads nor social insurances.\n\n\nDeadline for institutional support le
 tter: 23 September 2019\n\n\n	EPFL applicants are kindly invited to fill o
 ut the Institutional Support Letter template available in the EPFL Toolkit
 \, have it signed by the Dean and\, if applicable\, by the Director of the
  Institute and the Head of Unit\, and send it\, together with the proposal
 \, to research@epfl.ch by 23 September 2019 for the institutional signatur
