DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Neurofibromatos
 is Research Program (NFRP) for 2019. The Early Investigator Research Award
  supports NF-focused research opportunities for individuals in the early s
 tages of their careers\, under the guidance of a designated Mentor. The PI
  must outline an individualized\, NF-focused Researcher Development Plan. 
 The researcher development plan should include a clearly articulated strat
 egy for acquiring the necessary skills\, competence\, and expertise that w
 ill enable the PI to successfully complete the proposed research project a
 nd foster the PI’s development as an independent NF researcher.\n \nAre
 as of Emphasis: The FY19 NFRP strongly encourages research applications th
 at specifically address the critical needs of the NF community in one or m
 ore of the following Areas of Emphasis:\n\n	Health services research\n	Het
 erogeneity of NF-related tumors\n	Non-tumor manifestations\n	Novel disease
  and treatment response markers using genomics\, epigenetics\, systems bio
 logy\, metabolomics\, or similar approaches\n	Nutritional\, environmental\
 , and other modifiers of NF\n	Preclinical efficacy studies\n	Target identi
 fication\, drug discovery\n	Targeted immunotherapies\n\n \nFunding: Maxim
 um USD $ 200’000\n \nDuration: 2 years\n \nEligibility: Applicants fro
 m international organizations or institutions are eligible to apply\, and 
 there are no citizenship restrictions. The investigator must be a postdoct
 oral or clinical fellow with 1-4 years of continuous postdoctoral research
  experience as of the application deadline.\n \nHow to Apply: Pre-applica
