 ave the pleasure to host Prof. Monika Ritsch-Marte (Biomedical Optics La
 b\, Medical University of Innsbruck)\, who will give a lecture entitled:\n
 \n            "LIGHT IN LIFE SCIENCES"\n\nThe talk is held in 
 the frame of the OSA travelling lecturer programme.\n\nProf. Monika Ritsc
 h-Marte\nDirector of the Division for Biomedical Optics Department for Phy
 siology and Medical Physics Medical University of Innsbruck\n\nProf. Ritsc
 h-Marte received her M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Innsbruck in 
 1984 and her PhD in Quantum Optics from the Waikato University in New Zeal
 and in 1988. After several PostDoc projects (Boulder/CO\, Milano\, Helsink
 i)\, she became the Chair of Biomedical Physics in Innsbruck in 1998\, whe
 re she founded a Biomedical Optics group. Her current research interests i
 nclude holographic optical tweezers\, digital holographic microscopy and l
 inear and non-linear Raman microscopy. She has received numerous research 
 grants and awards\, including an ERC Advanced Grant and the Boltzmann Awar
 d of the ÖPG. She is a member of the Austrian Academy of Science and a Fe
 llow of the Optical Society of America.
