DESCRIPTION:Aim: The AIMM Research Award is intended to support highly cre
 ative and conceptually innovative high-risk research with the potential to
  accelerate critical discoveries or major advancements that will significa
 ntly impact military health and medicine. AIMM initiative funding supports
  novel research concepts and other efforts that initiate or enhance potent
 ial game-changers that may not be supported by other funding mechanisms or
  core programs. The proposed research must be relevant to active duty Serv
 ice members\, Veterans\, military beneficiaries\, and/or the American publ
 ic. Important aspects of the AIMM initiative are Innovation and Impact.\n
  \nTo meet the intent of the award mechanism\, applications submitted to 
 the FY19 AIMM must address at least one of the Focus Areas listed below.\n
 \n	Algorithms/tools for decision support in a deployed or operational envi
 ronment to: diagnose military-relevant disease\, illness\, or injury\; pre
 scribe mitigation and treatment strategies\; and/or determine risk of Warf
 ighter return to duty.\n	Artificial Intelligence (AI)/deep learning for in
 tegrating heterogeneous data streams and analyzing data from wearables to 
 support making informed healthcare decisions. Wearable sensor systems may 
 pertain to\, but are not limited to\, the following or combinations of the
  following: infectious disease diagnosis\; physiologic status monitoring\;
  informing real-time casualty location and triage\; and/or environmental m
 onitoring.\n	AI/deep learning for analyzing and interrogating large medica
 l data sets to: identify patterns/predictors of disease\, illness\, or inj
 ury\; and/or identify treatment outcomes.\n\n \nFunding: Maximum USD $ 35
 0’000\n \nDuration: 18 months\n \nEligibility: Applicants from interna
 tional organizations or institutions are eligible to apply\, and there are
  no citizenship restrictions. Independent investigators at all academic le
 vels (or equivalent) are eligible to be named by the organization as the P
 I on the application.\n \nHow to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted th

  of collaborators and key personnel\, a preproposal narrative\, and suppor
