DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Vision Research
  Program (VRP) for 2019. The Translational Research Award is intended to s
 upport translational research that moves promising discoveries into clinic
 al applications that will advance the prevention\, diagnosis\, mitigation\
 , and/or treatment of eye injury or visual dysfunction associated with mil
 itary-relevant trauma. Successful applications to the FY19 VRP TRA should 
 establish a clear path to transform a discovery into new drugs\, devices\,
  or clinical practice guidelines that are ready for definitive testing in 
 clinical trials. Preliminary data supporting the feasibility of the propos
 ed research project are required and must be included in the application.\
 n \nTo meet the intent of the award mechanism\, applications to the FY19 
 VRP Investigator-Initiated Research Award must address research in one or 
 more of the following Focus Areas listed at the end of this announcement.\
 n \nFunding:        Maximum USD $ 750’000\n \nDuration:     
  3 years\n \nEligibility: Applicants from international organizations or 
 institutions are eligible to apply\, and there are no citizenship restrict
 ions. Independent investigators at all academic levels (or equivalent) may
  be named by the organization as the PI on the application.\n \nHow to Ap
 ply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They shoul
 d contain contact information\, a list of collaborators and key personnel\
 , a preproposal narrative\, and supporting documents as suggested on the p
