DESCRIPTION:Aim: The United States Agency for International Development (U
 SAID)\, the UK Department for International Development (DFID)\, the Nethe
 rlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs\, and Grand Challenges Canada have laun
 ched Creating Hope in Conflict: A Humanitarian Grand Challenge. This chall
 enge seeks to fund and accelerate solutions that enable life-saving or lif
 e-improving assistance to reach the most vulnerable and hardest-to-reach p
 eople in conflict-generated humanitarian crises. Specifically\, we seek in
 novations that engage the private sector and involve input from the affect
 ed communities in order to provide safe water and sanitation\, energy\, li
 fe-saving information\, or health supplies and services to help conflict-a
 ffected people.\n \nThis Request for Proposals will fund up to 25 seed pr
 ojects at up to $250\,000 CAD each\, along with basic acceleration support
 \, over a maximum period of twenty-four (24) months. To receive seed fundi
 ng\, applicants must demonstrate potential relevance to\, or identify pote
 ntial opportunities for collaboration with the private sector. Seed applic
 ations are encouraged to demonstrate a potential connection to the private
  sector by (but not limited to): discussing a current or potential private
  sector partner\, a market-based approach\, an eventual transition to a lo
 cal partner\, a sustainable business or market solution. By the end of the
  seed award\, innovators who have demonstrated proof of concept of the ide
 a\, developed a plan for scale and sustainability\, and attracted commitme
 nts from key stakeholders and partners may be invited to apply for Transit
 ion To Scale program funding.\n \nThis Request for Proposals will also fu
 nd up to 5 Transition To Scale innovations of up to $1\,000\,000 CAD each\
 , plus acceleration support\, over a maximum of twenty-four (24) months\, 
 to refine\, test and implement innovative solutions that have achieved pro
 of of concept. Applications for Transition To Scale funding must demonstra
 te engagement\, collaboration and/or approaches created with or by the pri
 vate sector in their design\, evaluation or implementation\, and are requi
 red to have matching funds (cash/cash equivalent). Private sector actors a
 re often uniquely effective at quickly and cost-efficiently producing or d
 elivering goods or services that cannot be otherwise supplied by tradition
 al forms of humanitarian assistance.\n \nFunding:        Seed Proje

      24 months\n \nEligibility: Eligible applicants include social en
 terprises and other recognized institutions (e.g.\, non-profit organizatio
 ns and for-profit companies) that are formed and legally incorporated\, th
 at can successfully execute the activities in their respective technical a
 rea\, and that are capable of receiving and administering grant funding. T
 his competition is open to everyone regardless of age or academic qualific
 ations. The Project Lead and team must have the skills to carry out the pr
 oposed activities of the innovation.\n \nHow to Apply: There are two dist
 inct submission streams: one for Seed and one for Transition To Scale. Bot
 h Seed and Transition To Scale applications MUST BE submitted through Gran
 d Challenges Canada’s Community Portal (gcc.fluxx.io). In order to gain 
 access to the Portal\, applicants must first create an account using this 
 link. Once you have created an account\, please allow up to one (1) busine
 ss day for Grand Challenges Canada to process your account request. Once y
 our information has been processed\, you will be emailed login credentials
  to access the Portal to submit your application/Letter of Intent. Due to 
 processing times\, the foundation suggests registering for a Fluxx account
  no later than July 5\, 2019.\n \nSeed applicants will be prompted to ans
 wer a series of questions about their innovative idea\, goal\, objectives 
 and activities\, approach\, framework for measuring success\, and budget. 
 Transition to Scale applicants will describe their innovation\, evidence o
 f proof of concept\, pathway to scale and sustainability\, and proposed us
 e of funds.\n\nApplications may be made in English or French language. App
 lications in any other language will be rejected without review.\n \nDead
