 ris\n\nAbstract\nPolar coding is a constructive method invented by\nArikan
  [1]\, which achieves the symmetric capacity of binary-input\ndiscrete mem
 oryless channels (B-DMC). First\, we summarize\nArikan’s seminal paper. 
 Then\, some of the code construction\nmethods for polar codes [1]\,  [2] 
 are investigated. Lastly\, we\naddress the question of block error probabi
 lity under successive\ncancellation decoder (SCD) being asymptotically tig
 ht with respect\nto the union bound. In [3]\, the authors have shown this 
 is\nindeed true for binary erasure channels (BEC) by tracking the joint ch
 annel events with a correlation\nmetric. However\, the asymptotic behavior
  is still unknown in\ngeneral since the output alphabet grows exponentiall
 y in block\nlength and it not possible to track all events. We propose som
 e\nmethods that may help to resolve this problem by combining the\ntwo app
 roaches in [3] and [2]\, that is\, tracking the joint channel\nevents with
  a suitable correlation metric while keeping the output\nalphabet constant
