DESCRIPTION:The Swiss Cancer Research foundation (since 1990) and the Swis
 s Cancer League (since 1910) work towards a world where fewer persons get 
 cancer\, fewer persons suffer the consequences and die of cancer\, more pe
 rsons are cured of cancer\, and persons with cancer and their families rec
 eive care and support in all phases of cancer and in dying. Their main obj
 ective is to provide funding for all areas of cancer research: basic\, cli
 nical\, epidemiology\, psychosocial research and public health. A special 
 focus is placed on funding patient-centred research projects that result i
 n direct patient benefit.\n\nWhat: the Swiss Cancer League and the Swiss C
 ancer Research foundation call for Basic\, clinical\, epidemiological and 
 psychosocial research projects with distinct cancer relevance\, contributi
 ng to new observations or knowledge on the causes\, prevention or treatmen
 t of cancer. Priority is given to patient-oriented research projects. Indu
 stry-related projects are NOT supported.\n\nWho can apply: principal inves
 tigator with independent position at a Swiss research institution and seve
 ral years of research\, successful in securing independent funding in the 
 past\, several first author publications and at least 1 peer-reviewed arti
 cle. The Co-PIs must be employed at a Swiss research institution.\n\nFundi
 ng: Max. CHF 375’000 for up to 48 months. \n \nEligible costs: \n\n	Per
 sonnel (excl. the PI’s): use SNSF Salary scales for PhD students\; calcu
 late 16% social charges for any type of employee.\n	Consumables and miscel
 laneous expenses for approx. CHF 25’000.- per year for a FTE position bu
 t can in well-documented cases make up to 50% of the yearly budget.\n	Coll
 ateral materials\n	Open access publications (up to CHF 3’000 per publica
 tion).\n	Does NOT support: Overhead\, Travel & Conference costs (apply to 
 Scientific Conferences grants).\n\n \nDeadline: 31 January and 31 July (2
 3:59 Swiss local time) (every year)\n\n\n	Create your account on the onlin

  via the online portal.\n	Finally\, mail one signed hardcopy within 3 work
 ing days after the deadline.\n\n \nNote: Only one project per PI may be s
 ubmitted per round. Rejected applications can be revised and re-submitted 
 only once. PIs can have only one ongoing grant at a time. \n \nFor furth
