DESCRIPTION:Aim: The mission of the Simons Foundation Autism Research Init
 iative (SFARI) is to improve the understanding\, diagnosis and treatment o
 f autism spectrum disorders (ASD) by funding innovative research of the hi
 ghest quality and relevance.\n \nThe goal of the Pilot Award is to provid
 e early support for exploratory ideas\, particularly those with novel hypo
 theses. Appropriate projects for this mechanism include those considered h
 igher risk with less assurance of ultimate impact\, but with the potential
  for transformative results. In particular\, the Foundation encourages enc
 ourage applications that propose research to link genetic or other ASD ris
 k factors to molecular\, cellular\, circuit or behavioral mechanisms of AS
 D.\n \nDuration: 2 years\n \nFunding: USD $300’000\n \nEligibility: A
 ll applicants and key collaborators must hold a PhD\, MD\, or equivalent d
 egree and have a faculty position or the equivalent.  There are no citize
 nship or country requirements.\n \nHow to Apply: Applications must be com
