DESCRIPTION:The Google Faculty Research Awards\n\n	Support technical resea
 rch in Computer Science\, Engineering\, and related fields around the worl
 d by providing funding for 1 PhD student for 1 year.\n	Aim at identifying 
 and strengthening long-term collaborative relationships between Google and
  faculty working on problems that will impact how future generations use t
 echnology.\n\n \nThe work funded is very high calibre\, and research resu
 lts are often published at top conferences and in top publications in Comp
 uter Science.\n \nEligible topics: algorithms and optimisation\; computat
 ional neuroscience\; cooling and power\; digital media processing\; geo/ma
 ps\; human-artificial intelligence interaction\; human-computer interactio
 n\; information retrieval and real time content\; machine learning and dat
 a mining\; machine perception\; machine translation\; mobile\; natural lan
 guage processing\; networking\; physical interfaces\; privacy\; recommenda
 tion systems\; security\; social signal processing\; software engineering 
 and programming languages\; speech\; structured data\, extraction\, semant
 ic graph and database management\; software and hardware systems\; virtual
  and augmented reality.\n \nWho can apply:\n\n\n	Permanent faculty at uni
 versities everywhere in the world.\n	Up to 2 co-applicants (both permanent
  faculty).\n\n \nFunding:\n\n\n	salary for 1 PhD student for 12 months (i
 ndicated in USD) + a USD 3’000 contribution towards conference travel (o
 ptional).\n	Non eligible costs: Indirect costs\, administrative costs and
