DESCRIPTION:The MS Society supports research in the field of multiple scle
 rosis (MS) to improve the understanding of the causes and development of t
 he disease\, to further develop treatment options\, and to improve quality
  of life for people with MS and their families.\n \nFor the 60-year-anniv
 ersary the MS Society allocated CHF 1.5 Mio to support research projects o
 n one of the following topics:\n\n	Understanding MS: Causes of MS\, Geneti
 cs in MS\, Environmental Factors\, Disease Progression.\n	Living with MS: 
 Symptom Management\, Quality of Life\, Complementary Treatment Options.\n\
 n \nThe MS Society requires grantees to make the results of its funded pr
 ojects available in an open access (OA) publication or database.\n \nWho 
 can apply:\n\n\n	The PI must be part of a research group. Non independent 
 researchers must join a letter of support from the Head of their lab\, con
 firming support to the project and availability of the necessary infrastru
 cture/consumables. Up to 3 applicants for each application.\n\n \nFunding
  & Duration: up to CHF 200’000 for 24 months\n\n\n	Eligible costs: Perso
 nnel (excluding the PI)\, Consumables\, Travel (only if necessary for the 
 project e.g. to learn a technique – no travel costs to meetings)\, Publi
 cation costs (only if open access\, according to SNSF guidelines).\n	Ineli
 gible costs: Meeting costs\, Overheads\, Equipment and Infrastructure\, Ge
 neral Travel.\n\n \nDeadline: 1 September 2019\nDecision: by end of Decem
 ber 2019\nStart of the Grant: 1 January 2020 (estimate)\n \nApplication &
  Evaluation:\n\n\n	For the short statement confirming that EPFL does not e
 ngage in competing fundraising activities (compulsory)\, contact research@
 epfl.ch at least 7 days prior to submission.\n	Fill out the Scientific and
  Financial Forms following the call Guidelines (follow this link and scrol
 l down the page for the call documents).\n	Prepare a Lay Summary of your p
 roject (up to 400 words) in French\, German and Italian.\n	Annexes:\n	\n		
 1-2 minute video in French\, German or Italian (please contact Mediacom fo
 r assistance).\n		Support Letter from the Head of the Lab for non-independ
 ent researchers.\n		The PI’s CV and publications.\n		Ethical authorizati
 ons or animal permits.\n	\n	\n	Submit your application by 1 September 2019
  via the online application portal.\n	Your grant application will be evalu
 ated by a commission of the Scientific Advisory Board and by two internati
 onal experts and given a score from 3 to 6. Based on this score\, the comm
 ission will decide if and to which amount your project can be funded. The 
 Board of the MS Society will make the final decision by the end of Decembe
