DESCRIPTION:Aim: Since the National Glaucoma Research (NGR) program began 
 in 1978\, BrightFocus has awarded nearly $33 million to support research p
 rojects on the causes and potential prevention and treatment of this disea
 se. BrightFocus provides research funds for U.S. and international researc
 hers pursuing pioneering research leading to greater understanding\, preve
 ntion\, and treatment of glaucoma.\n \nPreference is made for exciting pi
 lot projects that would not\, at their present stage\, be competitive for 
 large government or industry awards. Please note that applicants to the 
 NGR program are encouraged to apply for funding to create tools that would
  benefit all investigators in the field\, including animal models of disea
 se\, or cell lines.\n \nDuration: 2 years\n \nFunding: USD $200’000\n
  \nEligibility: Typically these awards are made to early stage investigat
 ors\, or to more established investigators who are proposing particularly 
 innovative research. The Principal Investigator (PI) position is open to t
 enure- and non-tenure track investigators of any career stage who are appr
 opriately trained to lead an independent research study\, and are permitte
 d by their organizations to manage grants and supervise key personnel. Add
 itionally\, Postdoctoral Fellows may be listed as a Co-Principal Investiga
