DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Chronic Pain Ma
 nagement Research Program (CPMRP) for 2019. The Investigator Initiated Res
 earch Award supports studies that have the potential to make significant a
 dvances in research\, patient care\, and/or quality of life in area of Chr
 onification of Pain. Through understanding the determinates of transition 
 from acute to chronic pain and development of therapies that block the pro
 cess of chronification\, the CPMRP seeks to prevent the manifestation of c
 hronic pain and thus reduce the population requiring pain management inter
 ventions. IIRA applications may involve any phase of basic\, translational
 \, and clinically oriented research\, including studies in animal models\,
  research with human anatomical substances\, and research with human subje
 cts. Multidisciplinary collaborations and innovative approaches are encour
 aged.\n \nTo meet the intent of the award mechanism\, applications to the
  FY19 CPMRP Investigator-Initiated Research Award must address research in
  program’s Focus Area\, Chronification of Pain.\n \nFunding:

 y: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are eligibl
 e to apply\, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Investigators at o
 r above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent) may be named by t
 he organization as the PI on the application.\n \nHow to Apply: Pre-appli
 cations are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain cont
 act information\, a list of collaborators and key personnel\, preproposal 
 narrative\, and supporting documents as suggested on the platform. Full ap
