DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Restoring Warfi
 ghters with Neuromusculoskeletal Injuries Research Award (RESTORE). The in
 tent of the RESTORE mechanism is to provide support for research of except
 ional scientific merit that proposes solutions for optimal management\, tr
 eatment\, and restoration following Service-related neuromusculoskeletal i
 njury. Research will accelerate progress toward returning Warfighters to c
 ombat readiness following neuromusculoskeletal injury and will ultimately 
 benefit all patients with such injuries.\n \nRESTORE is structured with t
 hree different Research Levels:\n\n	Research Level 1—New ideas that repr
 esent innovative approaches and have the potential to make an important co
 ntribution within the RESTORE Focus Areas (see below)\n	Research Level 2
 —Advancement of laboratory discovery\, population-based studies\, or cli
 nical knowledge into clinical application and acceleration toward a clinic
 al solution\n	Research Level 3—Clinical trials with the potential to hav
 e a significant impact on Warfighters who have incurred neuromusculoskelet
 al injuries\n\n \nTo meet the intent of the award mechanism\, application
 s RESTORE must address research in program’s Focus Areas\, which are lis
 ted at the end of this announcement.\n \nFunding:        Research l

 utions that accurately diagnose neuromusculoskeletal injuries in training 
 and operational environments to optimize management and treatment decision
 s\n	Solutions to accelerate recovery and restore Warfighter performance in
  training and operational environments\n	Objective support tools to enable
  providers to assess function and performance throughout treatment and pre
 dict long-term outcomes\n	Pain management strategies following acute and/o
 r chronic neuromusculoskeletal injury that are fast-acting\, long-lasting\
 , and free of adverse side effects\n	Optimization of Warfighter performanc
 e following limb trauma or loss. Examples include\, but are not limited to
 \, prosthetics and orthotic solutions (e.g.\, intuitive control and sensat
 ion\, interface\, interoperability\, prescription\, and training)\, as wel
 l as regenerative rehabilitation solutions addressing peripheral nerves\, 
 skeletal muscle\, and/or bone. Technology development is allowed. Regenera
 tive studies without a rehabilitative component are not responsive to this
  funding opportunity\n
