CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:The Elsevier Foundation-ISC3 Green & Sustainable Chemistry Cha
llenge! seeks to stimulate innovative chemistry research that helps the en
vironment and low-resource communities in emerging and developing countrie
s.\n \nEligible projects must utilize innovative green and sustainable ch
emistry approach:\n\n	Reduce or eliminate the use or generation of one or
more hazardous substances or materials.\n	Provide a more sustainable use o
 f resources (e.g.\, bio-\, minerals\, metals but also water\, energy)\, or
products\, or more sustainable manufacturing/ application of chemical pro
ducts\n	Increase longevity\, increase reuse or recyclability of chemicals/
products e.g. by proper design or manner of application etc.\n	Design a ne
w business model related to green and sustainable chemistry and circular e
conomy.\n	Comply with at least two of the 12 principles of green chemistry
(if synthesis of products is involved\, comply with at least 3 principles
).\n\n \nThe project must be applicable in and suitable for developing co
untries. Describe the project’s social impact on local communities\, inc
luding gender equality either in design or implementation.\n \nInclude an
implementation plan of the project. Please note that if the project has b
een developed in a high-income country\, contextually appropriate knowledg
e transfer to the lower income country is needed to be demonstrated\, for
instance through a developing country implementation or research partner.
If the idea presented is already patented it will not be eligible. Patents
resulting from the work in case of executing the awarded project will be
possible anyway.\n \nPrizes: \n\n\n	The Scientific Prizes award projects
that use green and sustainable chemistry solutions to tackle some of the
developing world’s greatest sustainability challenges – encouraging r
esearchers to come up with new solutions.\n	The Entrepreneurial Prize hig
hlights entrepreneurs with promising innovations and evaluates them in ter
ms of market potential\, business models\, technological innovation and im
pact. You can find additional information about the Entrepreneurial prize
on the ISC3 website. \n\n \nFunding:\n\n\n	Scientific prizes: the winn
ing project will receive a prize of €50\,000\, with €25\,000 for the s
econd place prize.\n	Entrepreneurial prize: an additional €25\,000 will
be awarded for the “Entrepreneurial Spirit in Sustainable Chemistry Awar
 d”.\n\n \nDeadline: 15 September 2019 \nPre-selection: 15 October 2019\
 nShort-listing: January 2020\n \nFor further information and application\
, please have a look at the call webpage\, Challenge’s criteria and supp
 orted projects.\n
