DESCRIPTION:Andres Colubri\, PhD MFA\nBroad Institute of MIT and Harvard\n
\nIn this talk\, I will give an overview of my path as a multi-disciplinar
y researcher\, describing projects ranging from computational information
design to simulations of infectious disease outbreaks\, and how this exper
ience led me to the development of novel biomedical tools combining data v
isualization\, machine learning\, and mobile technologies. I will focus on
some ongoing projects dealing with the collection and modeling of infecti
ous disease data\, and will discuss the challenges associated with obtaini
ng field data while preserving patient privacy\, as well as deriving machi
ne learning models that can be generalized to new cohorts and eventually h
ave an impact in outbreak response.\n\n
