DESCRIPTION:Aim:  The Open Phil AI Fellowship is a fellowship for full-ti
 me PhD students focused on artificial intelligence or machine learning. Wi
 th this program\, we seek to fully support a small group of the most promi
 sing PhD students in AI and ML who are interested in making the long-term\
 , large-scale impacts of AI a central focus of their research.\n \nFellow
 s will be selected based on their academic excellence\, technical knowledg
 e\, and interest in increasing the probability of positive outcomes from t
 ransformative AI. The AI Fellows have a broad mandate to think through whi
 ch kinds of AI and ML research are likely to be most valuable\, to share i
 deas and form a community with like-minded students and professors\, and u
 ltimately to act in the way that they think is most likely to improve outc
 omes from progress in AI.\n \nThe Open Phil AI Fellowship is open to stud
 ents interested in any research topic within AI.\n \nFunding: Fellows rec
 eive a $40\,000 stipend\, $10\,000 in research support\, and payment of tu
 ition and fees\, each year\, starting in the year of their selection until
  the end of the 5th year of their PhD.\n \nEligibility: The Open Phil AI 
 Fellowship is open to full-time AI and machine learning students in any ye
 ar of their PhD\, to undergraduate seniors applying to AI or ML PhD progra
 ms\, and to students transferring to an AI/ML PhD from another field. The 
 program is open to applicants in any country. Students with pre-existing f
 unding sources are welcome to apply.\n \nHow to Apply: Applications can b
 e submitted via an online platform provided by Open Philanthropy. Applicat
 ions must include a personal research statement (<2 page)\, a CV\, and up 
 to three letters of recommendation.\n \nDeadline:      25 October 20
