DESCRIPTION:Dr. Luke Fleet is a Senior Editor & Team Leader at Nature. Fol
lowing a PhD on semiconductor spintronics from the University of York and
in collaboration with the RIEC at Tohoku University\, he undertook postdoc
toral research in organic electronics at Imperial College London and the L
ondon Centre for Nanotechnology. Luke joined Nature Research in 2013 as an
editor at Nature Communications\, before moving to Nature Physics in 2014
\, and then to Nature in 2017. In his role\, Luke leads the team of edito
rs that are responsible for selecting the research papers that are publish
ed in Nature across a range of fields\, including physics\, astronomy and
electronics. He also assists the Chief Editor in devising and delivering t
he goals for the physics & electronics team.\nAbstract : Nature has been
serving scientists and scientific communities since 1869 through publicati
on of significant advances and by providing a forum for the reporting and
discussion of news and issues concerning science. Nature-branded journals
continue to strive to publish and communicate the most striking developmen
ts in science to broad audiences\, but we are keen to strengthen the repre
sentation of electrical engineering. This seminar will give insights into
the publishing landscape\, and the policies and processes of the Nature-br
anded journals\, as well into their growing engagement with engineering co
 mmunities.\n
