 Gallen\nThe IEEE will run a one day event on pathways to decarbonisation i
 n St Gallen on 7 November. The event is open to all. \n\nThe Paris Agreem
 ent aims to limit global temperature rises caused by man-made climate chan
 ge\, but many say that the 2C target does not go far enough. Climate effor
 ts need to be much more ambitious to curb temperature rises and limit the 
 impact of carbon emissions on future generations. \nAn emerging area of r
 esearch is rapid decarbonisation\, focused on accelerating efforts beyond 
 the baseline Paris target to limit the temperature rise to 1.5°C and so a
 vert climate disaster. \n\nIn this special one-day event\, IEEE Switzerla
 nd PES will investigate the latest positive technological and political de
 velopments and outline concrete steps for rapid decarbonisation. By assemb
 ling a range of experts we will consider policy\, economic\, financial and
  technical perspectives of rapid decarbonisation\, and investigate busines
 s models that could emerge.\n\nRegistration is required (small fee applies
