DESCRIPTION:Aim: The Lloyd J. Old STAR Program provides grants of $1.25 mi
 llion over 5 years to mid-career scientists. This long-term funding will n
 ot be tied to a specific research project\, but rather will aim to provide
  a degree of flexibility and freedom for investigators to explore out-of-t
 he-box and disruptive avenues of research. Candidates selected for this aw
 ard are expected to be future “stars” in the field of cancer immunolog
 y: Scientists Taking Risks.\n \nDuration:      60 months\n \nFunding
 :        USD $1’250’000\n \nEligibility: The applicant must hav
 e an M.D.\, Ph.D.\, or M.D./Ph.D. (or equivalent). Applicants must belong 
 to one of the following categories as of July 1\, 2020:\n\n	Tenure-track a
 ssistant professor with a minimum of 3 years in this position (appointed o
 n or before July 1\, 2017)\n	Tenure-track associate professor with a maxim
 um of 3 years in this position (appointed on or after July 1\, 2017)\n\nAp
 plicants are expected to commit a minimum of 80% of their time to conducti
 ng research. CRI has no citizenship restrictions\, and research supported 
 by the award may be conducted at medical schools and research centers in t
 he United States or abroad.\n \nHow to Apply: The process for applying fo
 r a Lloyd J. Old STAR Program grant consists of two parts: an application\
 , and an (invited) interview in New York City. The deadline for the receip
 t of applications is January 15\; applications can be completed on the onl
 ine platform. For EPFL applicants\, contact the Research Office as soon as
  you begin your application. Candidates will be notified in early March wh
 ether or not they have been invited to the Cancer Research Institute in Ne
