DESCRIPTION:Aim: The mission of the Simons Foundation Autism Research Init
 iative (SFARI) is to improve the understanding\, diagnosis and treatment o
 f autism spectrum disorders (ASD) by funding innovative research of the hi
 ghest quality and relevance. To this end\, we solicit applications for SFA
 RI Research Awards from individuals who will conduct bold and rigorous res
 earch.\n \nThe goal of the Research Award is to provide support for inves
 tigation of key unresolved research questions in autism\, particularly tho
 se that connect genetic etiologies to brain function and behavior. SFARI w
 elcomes risk and novelty in Research Award proposals\, but potential impac
 t on the autism research field will be the most important criterion. While
  SFARI remains open to persuasive arguments for the relevance of any parti
 cular project\, Research Awards should be aligned with SFARI’s scientifi
 c perspectives.\n \nDuration:      48 months\n \nFunding:     
   $1\,300\,000\n \nEligibility: All applicants and key collaborators mus
 t hold a Ph.D.\, M.D. or equivalent degree and have a faculty position or 
 the equivalent at a college\, university\, medical school or other researc
 h facility. In addition\, eligible applicants must have independent lab sp
 ace at their institution. There are no citizenship or country requirements
