DESCRIPTION:Dr Desiree Dickerson and Prof. Marcel Salathé\nWe seem to liv
e in the age of stress\, depression\, and anxiety. At universities\, stude
nts\, young researchers\, and staff of all ages are faced with pressure to
perform while navigating the uncertainty of rapidly changing job markets
and social networks. In parallel\, the digital environment has evolved int
o a minefield of applications that can be both attention-sucking and produ
ctivity-enhancing at the same time. Our old tools seem to be a poor fit fo
r this new age. What can we do?\n\nIn this event\, we explore common thoug
ht patterns that tend to hinder our productivity. We address how certain m
indsets can enhance motivation\, attention\, and creativity\; increase our
resilience to stress\, anxiety and burnout\; and enhance our well-being a
nd work-life balance.\n\nWe will begin with a talk by Desiree Dickerson\,
a neuroscientist and clinical psychologist\, who specialises in helping ac
ademic institutions and academics themselves curate a healthier approach t
o research. The talk is followed by a conversation with Marcel Salathé\,
and then open to discussion with the audience.\n\n\nPlease note that this
event is highly overbooked\; come early if you want to be in the room. But
the event is also broadcast live on Zoom - please consider joining there.
