DESCRIPTION:The Swiss National Science Foundation has announced the fourth
  annual edition of the “SNSF Scientific Image Competition” for images 
 and short videos from the world of research. The winning projects and a se
 lection of other entries will be exhibited at the Biel/Bienne Festival of 
 Photography from 8 to 31 May 2020\, curated by director Sarah Girard\, and
  will be freely available to the public and the media.\n\nThe competition 
 gives the public an unconventional view of research. It invites all resear
 chers to document the often unusual environment they work in\, as well as 
 any special tools and instruments\, and to capture unexpected occurrences 
 on film or make a photo of the research team at work.\n\nPrize: a CHF 1’
 000 prize will be awarded to the winners in each of the following categori
 es:\n\n	Object of study\n	Women and men of science\n	Locations and instrum
 ents \n	Video loop \n\nIn addition\, the jury will award distinctions wort
 h CHF 250 each.\n\nWho can apply: scientists working at higher education i
 nstitutions or research institutions in Switzerland.\n\nRestrictions: \n\n
 \n	Works by professional photographers are not accepted.\n	Employees of th
 e communication departments of research institutions\;\n	The submitted ima
 ge or video must have been produced after 1 February 2019 and while you we
 re employed at a Swiss research institution.\n\n\nDeadline: 31 January 202
