DESCRIPTION:Luca Migliorini\, University of Bologna\nI will describe work 
 in collaboration with V. Shende giving a support\ntheorem\, analogous to N
 go's\, for the relative\nHilbert scheme of a family of planar curves.  In
  the first\,\nintroductory part\, I will recall some definitions and resul
 ts\non Hilbert schemes and compactified Jacobians\, extending to singular\
 nplanar curves the classical theory of the Abel Jacobi map.\nI will also d
 iscuss some facts about the topological properties of\nalgebraic maps\, es
 pecially the "perverse filtration"\nand the decomposition theorem. The sec
 ond part of the talk will be\ndevoted to giving the statement of the\nsupp
 ort theorem for the Hilbert scheme\, a rough discussion of the\nproof and 
 some applications.
