DESCRIPTION:Aim:  The Durham University Addison Wheeler Fellowships are d
 esigned to provide early career researchers of outstanding promise with th
 ree years to pursue original ideas\, free from teaching and administrative
  responsibilities.\n\nAddison Wheeler Fellowships are funded through the b
 equest of Addison James Wheeler to encourage 'efforts for increased knowle
 dge of people and their make-up so as to enable them to make better use of
  their life here on Earth'. Addressing this aspiration is one of the condi
 tions of the Fellowships but it is intended to be interpreted broadly and 
 should not be seen as restrictive.\n\nThe Fellowships are aimed at researc
 hers of a high caliber\, who have completed their PhD at the time of appli
 cation and are at an early stage in their career. Fellows will pursue new 
 research ideas of their own design\, undertaken in collaboration within ac
 ademic researchers at Durham University.\n\nFunding:  £33\,797– £40\,
 322 p.a. (starting salary)\, plus research allowance and benefits\n\nDurat
 ion: 36 months\, starting 01-Oct-2020\n\nEligibility: Researchers should b
 e of high caliber with an established or emerging international reputation
  for scholarship and research leadership. They should be actively engaged 
 in translating academic research and scholarship into policy\, public prac
 tice\, and/or technological innovation. They should hold a PhD by the clos
 ing date of the application period\, ideally with 2-5 years of postdoctora
 l research experience. As a member of the Durham academic staff will act a
 s Host and Mentor for each Fellow\, applicants must seek the agreement of 
 a Durham academic to act as their host before applying.\n\nHow to Apply: T
 o apply for an Addison Wheeler Fellowship you will need to submit applicat
 ion materials through the Durham University online application system unde
 r vacancy reference 19000230. The application must include the following c
 omponents: a letter of application\, a CV\, a research plan\, and the name
 s of two potential referees. You must arrange for your referees to submit 
 their references to the Human Resources email <addisonwheeler.recruitment@
 durham.ac.uk> by the closing date for application (07 February 2020). As p
 art of the application process a proforma will need to be completed by the
  host academic and the Head of the Department/School in which you propose 
 to undertake your research. The signed proforma needs to be submitted to H
