DESCRIPTION:Prof. Jiwon Kim\n08:30 – 09:30 – Prof. Jiwon Kim\nSenior L
ecturer\, The University of Queensland\, Australia\n\nUnderstanding and Pr
edicting Urban Mobility using City-wide Trajectory Data\n\nThe growing use
of location-sensing technologies such as GPS\, Bluetooth\, and WiFi has l
ed to massive collections of urban trajectory data capturing the detailed
spatiotemporal footprint of individual people and vehicles travelling arou
nd a city. Such city-wide trajectories provide unique opportunities to loo
k deeper into patterns of individual road-user movements\, allowing more a
ccurate modeling and prediction of travel behavior and network traffic dyn
amics. The increasing availability of large-scale trajectory data has acce
lerated research in urban mobility analytics\, which aims to leverage and
provide different views on a city’s mobility data to enhance the city’
s overall mobility performance. This talk will present some recent studies
in urban mobility analytics and discuss their roles in improving network
traffic flows and enabling mobility-aware\, user-centric road operations a
nd transportation services. The studies are based on city-wide trajectorie
s of vehicles and public transport passengers and use a range of data-driv
en approaches including trajectory data mining\, visualization\, and predi
ctive modeling based on deep learning.
