DESCRIPTION:Prof. Sharon Di\n11:00 – 12:00 – Prof. Sharon Di\nAssistan
 t Professor\, Columbia University\, USA\n\nHarnessing Game Theory & Big Da
ta for Autonomous and Connected Transportation Ecosystem\n\nEmerging trans
 portation technology\, namely\, vehicle automation and connectivity\, is e
xpected to revolutionize the future transportation ecosystem. However\, su
ch disruptive technology can be a double-sided sword\, adversely impacting
social welfare\, if not properly managed or designed. My research aims to
understand the social\, policy\, legal\, and ethical implications of the
emerging technologies in transportation and develop optimal interventions
to achieve desirable outcomes. In this talk\, I will introduce how I addre
ss the technological challenges of vehicle automation and shared mobility
leveraging the core concepts of game theory\, machine learning\, and dynam
ic control. Accordingly\, my talk is comprised of three components: to des
ign optimal controls for autonomous vehicles in presence of human driven v
ehicles\, to plan optimal infrastructure and policies for shared mobility\
, and to utilize big data in transportation for societal challenges.
