DESCRIPTION:Antarctic Science Ltd is a charitable company\, registered in 
 the UK in 2000. Its role is to promote Antarctic science nationally and in
 ternationally. It owns the journal Antarctic Science\, which is published 
 for the company by Cambridge University Press.\n\nIt supports promising yo
 ung scientists\, working in any field of Antarctic science to extend the s
 cope of an existing research project\, through:\n\n	funding extra field or
  laboratory work\n	purchasing/contributing towards the cost of a key piece
  of equipment\, or\n	funding international collaboration or the learning o
 f new skills\n\n\nPlease note that this award is NOT offered to support wo
 rk on an existing research project. It is intended to support a distinct e
 xtension activity\, usually arising from previous work.\n\nWho can apply: 
 applicants from anywhere in the world enrolled in a PhD programme or emplo
 yed as an early career researcher. Early career researchers are eligible t
 o apply for up to 8 years after their PhD\, or within 3 years of attaining
  a permanent faculty position\, up to a total of 8 years post-PhD.\n\nFund
 ing and duration: £6’000 for up to 24 months.\n\n\n	Eligible costs: con
 sumables\, training\, travel\, accommodation and subsistence associated wi
 th research\, scientific services or facilities.\n	Does NOT cover: overhea
 ds\, applicant salary\, conference attendance or publication costs.\n\n\nD
