DESCRIPTION:The Dementia Consortium provides funding\, resources and exper
 tise to both increase the number of\, and capitalise upon\, new drug targe
 ts emerging from across the academic sector that hold promise of bringing 
 benefit to patients suffering from Alzheimer.\n\nApplications must fall wi
 thin Alzheimer’s Research UK’s funding remit which covers biomedical r
 esearch in Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Of particular import
 ance is research which has translational potential for patient benefit.\n\
 nThis includes basic preclinical as well as clinical research\, however ca
 re or service delivery research falls outside of the foundation’s remit.
 \n\nWho can apply: Applications are acceptable from applicants based at es
 tablished research institutions worldwide. The Lead Applicant is expected 
 to have a contract (fixed term or tenure) which covers the proposed durati
 on of the grant. If the Lead Applicant does not hold a tenure appointment\
 , the application must include a co-applicant that does.\n\nFunding and du
 ration: The duration and amount will be determined at full application sta
 ge. Typical projects will be up to two years in duration and cost £100\,0
 00-£250\,000. There is a notional limit of £500\,000 for exceptional cas
 es.\n\nEligible costs: personnel (excl. the PI’s salary)\, animals\, equ
 ipment\, consumables and other project-related costs. Does not cover trave
 l to conferences and overheads.\n\nDeadline for expression of interests: 2
