CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:The Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JP
ND) is the largest global research initiative aimed at tackling the challe
nge of neurodegenerative diseases. This ERA-NET is funded by the EU’s H2
020 programme and by the participating countries’ funding agencies\, inc
luding the SNSF.\n\nFor the 2020 call\, the JPND initiative has announced
a EUR 18 M transnational call for multinational research on novel imaging
and brain stimulation methods and technologies for neurodegenerative disea
ses. The SNSF has allocated CHF 1M (approx. EUR 900K) for Swiss-based gran
tees from 3-4 projects.\n\nProposals must focus on one or several of the f
 ollowing\n\nNeurodegenerative diseases:\n\n	Alzheimer’s disease and othe
 r dementias\,\n	Parkinson’s disease and PD-related disorders\,\n	Prion d
iseases\,\n	Motor neuron diseases\,\n	Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA)\,\n	Hun
 tington’s disease\,\n	Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).\n\n\nResearch areas
:\n\n\n	Imaging technologies\,\n	Development of novel imaging technologies
\,\n	Improvements to the application of existing cutting-edge imaging tech
nologies\,\n	Brain stimulation techniques\,\n	New or improved applications
of both invasive and non invasive brain stimulation techniques for the di
agnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.\n\nWho can apply:\n\n
\n	International consortia composed of 3-6 researchers from at least 3 dif
ferent participating countries. Partners from other countries can be part
of the consortium\, but must secure their own funding. Applicants can be b
ased at universities (or other higher education institutions)\, non-univer
sity public or private research institutes\, hospitals and other health an
d social care settings\, as well as commercial companies\, in particular S
MEs. Collaborations with companies from outside the traditional medical se
ctor (e.g. computing\, artificial intelligence) are welcome. Eligibility r
ules depend on the national funding agencies.\n\n\n\n	Swiss-based applican
ts: must be eligible for SNSF Project Funding (see EPFL Instructions for S
NSF Project Funding) and cannot participate in more than one proposal per
call. The SNSF exclusively funds research conducted for non-commercial pur
poses. Please contact research@epfl.ch to verify your eligibility for the
call. In case of several overlapping SNSF projects\, all projects must sig
nificantly distinguish themselves from each other.  \n\n\nFunding & Durat
