DESCRIPTION:Aim:  The Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation (NETRF) in
 vites innovative and transformative research proposals in neuroendocrine t
 umors (NETs) to help bring the field closer to more effective therapies. B
 asic\, translational and clinical research applications are all invited\, 
 collaborations between investigators with expertise in different fields ar
 e encouraged. Grant proposals from multidisciplinary groups comprised of b
 asic scientists\, clinicians\, and experts in bioinformatics\, bio-nanotec
 hnology\, or other relevant disciplines are welcome. Proposals that cover 
 promising and potentially transferable mechanisms and/or technologies\, wh
 ich have been applied successfully to other areas of cancer research\, are
  highly desirable and will be evaluated based on their level of applicabil
 ity to NETs.\n\nNETRF offers four different neuroendocrine cancer research
  grants ( Accelerator\, Investigator\, Pilot\, and Mentored Awards) with c
 ancer research grants ranging from $100\,000 to $1.2 million. \n\nFunding
  & Duration:          Pilot award - $100’000 for one year\n  
                                      
          Mentored award - $120’000 for two years\n       
                                      
     Investigator award - $300’000 for two years\n          
                                      
  Accelerator award - $1’200’000 for four years\n\nEligibility: Applica
 nts must have a faculty appointment (assistant professor and above) for al
 l programs except the Mentored Award\, where postdocs can apply along with
  a mentor. Applicants must have the skills\, knowledge\, and resources nec
 essary to carry out the proposed research. Prior research in this field is
  not a prerequisite\; in fact\, the Foundation wishes to encourage expert 
 scientists to enter the field. Applicants must\, however\, demonstrate a p
 lan for continuing their research in NETs beyond the award period. Eligibl
 e organizations include public or private institutions\, such as universit
 ies\, colleges\, hospitals\, and laboratories\, both domestic and internat
 ional.\n\nAll grant recipients\, as a condition of acceptance\, will be re
 quired to attend the annual NETRF Research Symposium. Up to $2\,000 may be
  allocated from the grant to offset the recipient’s registration and att
 endance costs for the Symposium.\n\nHow to Apply: The NETRF grant applicat
 ion model employs a 2-step process (funding is only granted to applicants 
 completing both steps):\n \n\n	Initially\, a competitive Letter of Intent
  must be submitted. The LOIs allow NETRF to identify projects with the gre
 atest scientific potential without requiring applicants first to submit a 
 full application. A limited number of applicants whose LOI is deemed most 
 meritorious will move to the 2nd step and will be invited to submit a full
  proposal.\n	Mid-year\, a limited number of LOI authors will be invited to
  submit full proposals for consideration by the NETRF Board of Scientific 
 Advisors and external reviewers. Full proposals are due in the fall. Grant
  awards will be announced at the end of the year.\n\n\nLetters of intent a
