CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim: Facebook is increasingly focused on the design of product
s and services in ways that preserve privacy while still making powerful s
tatistical inferences from data. With advancements in cryptography and com
putation\, they seek to enable equivalent (and unlock new) functionality w
hile maintaining or enhancing technical guarantees of user-level privacy.\
n\nAdvancements in the field would facilitate collaborations between indus
try and academic partners without the risk of private data being learned b
y the other parties. They would also facilitate learning patterns and tren
ds that can be used to benefit the broader population while still keeping
information private for each consumer. Facebook is pleased to invite the a
cademic community to submit research proposals that address these opportun
ities.\n\nResearchers may submit proposals for privacy-enhancing solutions
to multiparty statistical analyses and machine learning problems within a
dvertising. There exists substantial latent demand to facilitate collabora
tions and to enrich insights while protecting consumer privacy across a wi
de range of practical circumstances. Proposals of diverse perspectives fro
m emerging scholars and researchers around the world studying real-world a
pplications of cryptography and other privacy technologies are all encoura
 ged.\n\nFunding:         USD $60’000\n\nDuration:        1
year\n\nEligibility:  Applicants must be current full-time faculty at an

wards must comply with applicable U.S. and international laws\, regulation
s\, and policies.\n\nHow to Apply: Applicants should submit a project summ
ary detailing what contribution their research is expected to make\, how t
he research domain will benefit from the work\, and a project timeline. In
  addition\, a CV and one-page biography for each involved researcher\, a l

ssistance on the organizational details or tax information\, please contac
