DESCRIPTION:From 25 February to 1 March\, ArtLab will be hosting the Immer
sive Lab\, an interactive multisensory space for artistic and scientific e
xploration developed by Daniel Bisig and Jan Schacher from the Institute
of Computer Music and Sound Technology at the Zurich University of the Art
s.\n\nShowcasing how art and science can inform each other in the investig
ation of immersive and interactive media\, the Immersive Lab serves as a p
latform for artistic and scientific experimentation and creation. Througho
ut the project\, artists\, scientists\, curators and educators collaborate
d on creations and exhibitions. The resulting works show how experience an
d communication affect our perception and the application of digital media
.\n\nThe list of works in the exhibition includes: Connect (by Simon Schae
rlaeken and Donald Glowinski)\, Multiple Bodies\, Super Egos & Virtual Sel
ves (by Simon Schaerlaeken\, Bruno Herbelin\, Oliver Kannape\, Jan Schache
r\, Daniel Bisig)\, Coexistence (by Nadine Cocina and Romana Sprenger)\, S
een (by Célia Bétourné and Louis Cortes)\, Les Mains Négatives (by Ann
e Dubos and Jan Schacher).\n\nThe exhibition can be visited freely or in t
he form of guided tours. \n\nGuided tours (45 min)\n\n	Tuesday February 2
 5 to Friday February 28: 12:15\; 17:15 (Thursday only at 12h15)\n	Saturda
 y February 59 to Saundy March 1: 11h:5\, 13:15\, 16:15\n\nTours will be i
n English during the week and in French/English during the weekend.\n\nArt
Lab practical information\nMore information about the Immersive Lab\n\nAbo
ut Multiple Bodies\, Super Egos & Virtual Selves\nA swipe of the arm. A fa
int touch. Who was that? Is that? By enabling visitors to experience the u
nusual sensations provoked by bodily illusions\, this artistic work explor
es the delicate boundary between our seemingly stable percept of an embodi
ed self\, and a self that is disrupted by technology. The installation is
equally inspired by clinical observations of disembodiment\, presence hall
ucinations\, and other altered states of consciousness – and experimenta
l neuroscientific investigations using virtual reality and robotics bringi
ng to surface the fundamental brain mechanisms underlying bodily self-cons
ciousness.\n\nInstallation made in collaboration with the Laboratory of Co
gnitive Neuroscience of Prof. Olaf Blanke at EPFL and with the support of
the Swiss National Science Foundation.\n\nThe challenges of the new techno
logies\nOn 27 February\, members of the project team and experts from medi
a art\, cognitive science\, and museology will gather together and debate
with the audience about the benefits and challenges of employing digital m
edia technologies in art\, research and dissemination.\nMore information\n
