 IVE METABOLISM and NUTRITION ALLIANCE (LIMNA)\n\nAbstract:\nActivation of 
 the hypoxia response pathway leads to metabolic reprogramming in cells and
  tissues\, which associates with a lower risk of cardiovascular diseases a
 nd obesity in people living at high altitude. Therefore\, the Hif-p4h-2 
 inhibition induced HIF stabilization provides interesting opportunities to
  study its potential in liver diseases\, often associated with the above-m
 entioned conditions. Our research group has shown that Hif-p4h-2 inhibit
 ion protects mice against metabolic disorder. Therefore\, we set out to in
 vestigate the effects of genetic and pharmacologic inhibition of HIF-P4H-2
  in AFLD and NAFLD. Moreover\, it was of interest to study whether this pr
 otection against fatty liver would result in less liver cancer at old age\
 , or alternatively\, since intratumoral HIF stabilization associates with 
 mortality in cancers\, whether chronic HIF-P4H-2 inhibition would support 
 cancer development\, and lead to a reduced life span.\n
