DESCRIPTION:Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Morocco and EPFL have la
 unched the Excellence in Africa initiative with the aim of supporting the 
 training of the next generation of researchers in Africa. This pathbreakin
 g initiative is intended to hone the skills of Africa-based early-stage re
 searchers through collaboration with\, and/or supervision by\, EPFL profes
 sors. It is based on the premise that this will help build their career as
  professors and thereby enable them to have a significant economic and soc
 ietal impact in Africa.\n\nThe first call for proposals for the Junior Fac
 ulty Development program\, which is the cornerstone of the Excellence in A
 frica initiative\, is now open.\n\nWhat   Pairing up of early-stage prof
 essors in Africa with EPFL professors\nFunding available for a jointly-des
 igned research project to be completed over a period of 4 to 5 years\nSeco
 ndment of the Africa-based professor in the laboratory of their colleague 
 at EPFL\n\nWho    Citizens of any nationality may apply\nEmployment or 
 prospect of employment as professor by a higher education institution in A
 frica\nPhD earned between 1st January 2011 and 31st March 2020\nOutstandin
 g research and publication track record\nWillingness to conduct a collabor
 ative research project with an EPFL professor in one of the EPFL research 
 domains\n\n\nHow to apply     Africa-based early-stage professors are 
 to apply on the online submission platform by 15 April 2020 - 17:00 CET (e
 xtended from 31 March 2020)\nThe candidates who receive the best grade and
  are successfully paired up with an EPFL professor will submit a full rese
 arch proposal with their EPFL co-applicant by 25 August 2020 (17:00 CET)
