DESCRIPTION:CORNET was initiated as an ERA-NET in 2005 and supported by th
 e European Commission’s 6th and 7th Framework Programme for Research and
  Development until 2011\, when it became a self-sustained network. CORNET
 ’s aim is to increase competitiveness of SMEs by funding international p
 re-competitive\, collective\, market-oriented research projects via biannu
 al calls for proposals.\n\n\nA CORNET project consortium consists of three
  pillars in each participating country/region:\n1. SMEs organisation\, ass
 ociation or cluster\n2. Research and Technology Organisation (RTO)\n3. Use
 r Committee consisting of min. 5 SMEs in each country/region\n\nThe specif
 ic competencies of the various countries/regions are combined to build up 
 a level of knowledge and know-how\, which could not be obtained by one sin
 gle participant or by a set of individual participants working in parallel
 . There is no thematic focus in the CORNET Calls for Proposals.\n\nThe mai
 n types of targeted activities are:\n\n	industrial research and developmen
 t\n	applied research and development\n\n\nThe main eligibility criterion i
 s that proposals address Collective Research\, meaning:\n- It serves the n
 eed of a wide grouping of companies\, mostly SMEs\n- Knowledge transfer (d
 issemination) is an integral part of Collective Research\n- Collective Res
 earch is pre-competitive\, meaning research and development in which there
  is collaboration but no competition.\nA   second   essential   crit
 erion   is   to   demonstrate   clearly   the   significant 
   added   value\,   when performing  the  research  on  an  inte
 rnational  scale.\n\nEvery project participant is funded by their own cou
 ntry/region funding organisation\, according to their specific rules\, for
  Swiss-based applicants the Swiss Federal Office of Energy SFOE. The appli
 cation has to be in line with the research topic laid out in the master pl
 an of energy research established by the SFOE (www.energy-research.ch\, 
 “Energieforschungs-konzept des Bundesamtes für Energie”). Please cont

 \, subcontracting costs / expenditures that are not part of R&D\n\n\nSubmi
 ssion:\nSubmission by the coordinator of the consortium on CORNET Submissi
 on Tool\, and parallel submission by each partners to their own national/r
 egional funding organization using the local application template and refe
