DESCRIPTION:This workshop deals with ‘micro’ ethics – the actions of
individual engineers in their relations and interactions with other peopl
e*. There is good evidence that diverse teams can be more productive and e
ffective than homogeneous teams\, but diverse teams generate more issues a
round ethical interaction. This workshop will provide you with tools to be
more aware of when/how issues arise and strategies to work more productiv
ely and fairly in heterogeneous teams. These tools will be immediately app
licable in your current project\, and also form a solid basis of intercult
ural communication for working in international or multinational contexts.
\n\nThis interactive workshop is mandatory for students in interdisciplina
ry projects funded by the MAKE committee (LRT\, CHIC\, iGEM\, Robocontest\
 , Hydrocontest\, Rocket Team\, IGLUNA\, etc).\nAnd optional for anyone els
e who would like to attend.\nLes supports de l'atelier sont en anglais\, m
ais votre participation en français est bienvenue.\n\nIf you have any que
stions\, just drop us a line cape@epfl.ch\n\n*The 2 other main aspects of
being an ethical engineer are managing the ’macro’ societal impacts te
chnological advances (like the way social networks and AI are changing soc
ieties) and ‘meso’ or institution-level decisions (like a company’s
 ethical procurement policies).
