DESCRIPTION:Aim: In this request for proposals (RFP)\, Facebook is offerin
 g awards to researchers interested in exploring the societal issues of mis
 information and polarization related to social communication technologies.
  Facebook will f und proposals that aim to enrich our understanding of cha
 llenges related to misinformation\, polarization\, information quality\, a
 nd conflict on social media and social technology platforms. Their goal fo
 r these awards is to support the growth of the scientific community in the
 se spaces and to contribute to a shared understanding across the broader i
 ndustry on how social technology companies can better address social issue
 s on their platforms. Research is not restricted to focusing on Facebook a
 pps and technology.\n\nPriority research areas of interest include\, but a
 re not limited to\, the following:\n\n	Health misinformation\n	Quantifying
  harms of misinformation (limited to three projects total):\n	Information 
 processing of sensational\, hateful\, divisive\, or provocative problemati
 c content\n	Affective polarization\n	Dangerous speech\, conflict\, and vio
 lence\n	Misinformation\, multimedia\, and formats\n	News\, trust\, and inf
 ormation quality\n	Cross-platform information ecosystem understanding\n	Di
 gital literacy\, demographics\, and misinformation\n\n\nFacebook research 
 awards provide support for independent research projects designed to be sh
 ared with the larger scientific\, policy\, and industry communities. These
  awards will be made as unrestricted gifts to allow investigators the free
 dom to deepen and extend their existing research portfolios to study the s
 ocial impact of online interaction and information technologies.\n\nFundin
 g:         max. $150’000\n\nEligibility:  Applicants must be the
  Principal Investigator on any resulting award. Awards must comply with ap
 plicable U.S. and international laws\, regulations\, and policies.\n\nHow 
 to Apply: Proposals should include a summary of the project (1-2 pages)\, 
 a draft budget description (1 page)\, CVs of all involved researchers\, ad
 ministrative information about the institution\, and a list of keywords. F
