DESCRIPTION:Aim:  The Alzheimer's Association International Research Gran
 t Program funds investigations to advance our understanding of Alzheimer's
  disease\, identify new treatment strategies\, improve care for people wit
 h dementia and further our knowledge of brain health and disease preventio
 n. The objective of the 2020 Zenith Fellows Awards competition is to prov
 ide major support for investigators who have: \n \n\n	Contributed signif
 icantly to the field of Alzheimer’s disease research\, or\n	Made signifi
 cant contributions to other areas of science and are now beginning to focu
 s more directly on problems related to Alzheimer‘s disease\, and are lik
 ely to make substantial contributions in the future.\n\n\nThe proposed res
 earch should address fundamental problems related to early detection\, eti
 ology\, pathogenesis\, treatment and/or prevention of Alzheimer’s and ot
 her dementias. Proposed research must be "on the cutting edge" of basic sc
 ience or biomedical research and thus may not conform to current conventio
 nal scientific wisdom or may challenge the prevailing orthodoxy.\n\nFundin
 g:        $450’000\n\nDuration:      3 years\n\nEligibility: O
 nly established independent investigators are eligible as evidenced by the
 ir academic appointments\, major\, peer-reviewed\, external multi-year gra
 nt support on which the applicant is the principal investigator (PI)\, ind
 ependent laboratory operation\, and quality and independence of publicatio
 n record. Only applicants who have already contributed significantly to th
 e field of Alzheimer’s and other dementia research or have the clear lik
 elihood of making significant contributions will be seriously considered.\
