CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim: The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) funds research to be
tter define\, measure\, and treat Parkinson’s disease as well as critica
l tools and other resources to advance that research. The purpose of this
Request for Applications (RFA) is to leverage and translate basic research
\, in order to enable therapeutic development. To this end\, MJFF believes
that promoting target and pathway validation studies within academic and
industry laboratories can bridge the critical gap between basic biology an
d therapeutic development. The Target Advancement Program seeks to build c
onclusive evidence to rationalize biological targets and pathways for Park
inson’s disease (PD) therapeutic development. Funding will support proje
cts focused on validating targets and defining pathways implicated in PD p
athological processes and/or symptomology. Targets and pathways proposed f
or study should have a reasonable initial link to PD\, such as demonstrate
d genetic association\, altered expression/function of the target in PD-re
levant human tissue\, and/or prior clinical trial data.\n\nFunding:
      max. $200’000\n                       \n
 Duration:        18 months\n
    \nEligibility: U.S. and non-U.S. public and private non-profit entit
 ies\, such as universities\, colleges\, hospitals\, laboratories\, units o
f state and local governments and eligible agencies of the federal governm
ent. Post-doctoral fellows are eligible to apply as co-investigators with
the designation of an administrative primary investigator who directs the
laboratory in which the fellow will conduct research.\n\nHow to Apply: The
pre-proposal is the first step in the application. Pre-proposals must be
completed in the online application portal. All pre-proposals received in
response to MJFF RFAs will be subjected to review and only applicants whos
e pre-proposals are determined to best fit criteria as defined in the RFA
will be invited to submit full applications. At the full proposal stage\,
an institutional approval will be required\; for assistance\, please conta
 ct the Research Office.\n\nDeadline (Pre-proposal): May 14\, 2020 (5:00 pm
