DESCRIPTION:The Academy of Finland opens a targeted call for applications 
 in Antarctic research. The aim is to generate internationally significant 
 new breakthroughs in Antarctic research.\n\nThe scope of the call covers a
 ll relevant areas of Antarctic research. The research must be multidiscipl
 inary and may be global or circumpolar\, focusing on both Polar Regions\, 
 but it must be research that cannot be conducted without Antarctic data.\n
 \nWho can apply: \n\n	In addition to a doctoral degree\, the principal inv
 estigator (PI) of the proposed project must also have other significant sc
 ientific merits. Usually the PI is a professor or a researcher at the doce
 nt level (adjunct professor). The funding can be applied for by both indiv
 idual research teams and consortia composed of two or several research tea
 ms.\n	Only projects that involve international collaboration are eligible 
 to receive funding.\n\n\nFunding: \n\n\n	EUR 450\,000 for four-year projec
 ts\;\n	maximum funding EUR 600\,000 per project (EUR 150\,000 per year)\;\
 n	maximum total funding per consortium-based Academy Project EUR 1 million
  (EUR 250\,000 per year).\n\n\nDuration: 1 January 2021–31 December 2024
 .\n\nEligible costs:\n\n\n	personnel costs\, research-related costs\, over
 heads.\n	the PI’s salary costs may\, under certain limitations\, be inco
 rporated into the total project costs.\n	up to 70% of the total project co
