CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim:  Microsoft is committed to pushing the boundaries of tec
hnology to empower every person and every organization on the planet to ac
hieve more. The cornerstone of how Microsoft does this is by building syst
ems that are secure\, and by providing tools that enable customers to mana
ge security\, legal\, and regulatory standards.\n\nThe goal of this Reques
t for proposals (RFP) is to spark new AI research that will expand our und
erstanding of the enterprise\, the threat landscape\, and how to secure ou
r customer’s assets in the face of increasingly sophisticated attacks.\n
\nSecurity is rapidly gaining importance in an ever-growing digital world
with expanding heterogeneous systems\, an explosion of data\, and increasi
ngly motivated and sophisticated adversaries. The asymmetric nature of sec
urity adds to this challenge. The defender must protect all assets\, yet t
he attacker need only find one vulnerability. At the same time\, availabil
ity of data and cloud capabilities create an opportunity for defenders to
flip the balance in their favor. AI will enable us to increase awareness a
nd actionable insights\, and make our customers more agile than their adve
rsaries when defending their enterprises.\n\nThe selected winning team of
this RFP shall receive funding in the form of an unrestricted gift. A seco
nd round of funding pending initial progress and outcomes (see Timeline be
low) may be considered at some point during this collaboration.\n\nFunding
 :        max. $150’000*\n\nDuration: 12-18 months\n\n*Microsoft wi
ll also consider an additional award of Azure cloud computing credits if w
arranted by the research and specified in the proposal.\n\nEligibility: Th
is RFP is not restricted to any one discipline or tailored to any particu
lar methodology. Universities are welcome to submit cross-disciplinary pr
oposals if that contributes to answering the proposed research question
(s).\n\nHow to Apply: Proposals should be submitted through the Applicatio
n Form. The proposal should not be more than seven pages in length of Time
s New Roman 11-point font. Proposals for this RFP should provide an initia
l budget and workplan for the research\, including a timeline that begins
in summer 2020 and ends in fall 2021. For more details on the proposal str
 ucturing\, see the Proposal Requirements page.\n\nDeadline:      20 A
 pril 2020 (5:00 pm PDT)\n\nFurther information\n\n	More information about
