DESCRIPTION:Thanks to an annual contribution of CHF 250’000 by the Käth
 e Zingg-Schwichtenberg (KZS) Fund\, the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences 
 (SAMS) supports research projects by junior researchers in biomedical ethi
 cs. The 2020 call for proposals is thematically open. However\, in the eve
 nt of applications of equal scientific quality\, preference will be given 
 to projects in the field of clinical and public health ethics. \n\nKZS Se
 ed Grants are meant to allow grantees to explore novel research ideas\, to
  realize a small\, independent pilot project and/or to prepare their own p
 roject proposal to be submitted to a larger funding agency. The research p
 roject must be in the planning stage\; funding will not be provided for on
 going projects.\n\nThe objective of the call is to support junior research
 ers to establish a record of independent research and facilitate the trans
 ition to the next step of their academic career.\n\nWho can apply: \n\n	Do
 ctoral and postdoctoral\, non-tenured researchers\, aiming at an academic 
 career in the field of biomedical ethics and active at a research institut
 ion in Switzerland by the time of the submission deadline and for the inte
 nded duration of the grant.\n\n\nFunding & Duration:\n\n\n	max. CHF 50'000
  for up to 12 months.\n	Eligible costs: project-related costs and a portio
 n of the PI’s salary.\n\n\nDeadline for Letter of Intent: 30 April 2020\
 nDeadline for full application: 31 August 2020 (upon invitation)\nEvaluati
 on by the KZS expert committee.\nStart of the project: between 1 December
